| GM sales (formerly Gem Electrical Sales) was started in 1983 as a company representing manufacturers of electrical products to the wholesale electrical distributors. Due to our product mix we also call on a number of other whole sale companies including tool houses. |
We started as a family business with Gene Mayer as President. We operated an office and warehouse in the Georgetown area in South Seattle. We received freight; stocked product for about half of the companies we represented and handled will call business for local customers. We started small but after a few years, we had a very full line card of companies that we represented. |
| As the years passed we came to the point where gene decided to retire. At that point, we made the decision to end our warehouse operation and moved our office a few blocks away to a professional business park, also, in the Georgetown area of South Seattle. We currently maintain our same level of services and sales but our orders are shipped direct from the companies we represent. Our warehouse closure took place in the early part of 2004. |
| We represent most of our companies in the state of Washington, Oregon, the panhandle of Idaho, Montana and Alaska. However due to the changes in business etc. We represent curtain companies in only various states. You can look at our line card for this information. Our territory is 990,000 square miles. Not exactly small and we have some interesting drive times. |
| Our call activity consists of time split between the Electrical Distributor, Electrical Engineers, Electrical Contractors, Industrials/ OEM, Lighting Distributors, Utilities and Bidder Design Companies. Sales from calls to these companies are sold through our network of electrical wholesale distributors. |
